FBG Match Rules

 D1gN1tY, 3/1/2010 11:49 PM, 1 replies

Hi everyone,

This is just quick message to inform you that the FBG Match Rules have been completed and can be found in the Clan Discussion forum here.

The rules are quite comprehensive and cover everything from server hosting configs to player conduct and guidelines. They will also be available directly from the Match Details Windows (inside the Battles) in a future build but you should refer to the forum link for any immediate references.

Interestingly, about 65% of the recent match disputes that have been raised are against clans that are attempting to use Mercs and/ or unregistered players in their matches - resulting in automatic match forfeits by those clans.

Now come on guys - this is nothing new... For the last decade, every other gaming tournament in the world (especially Counter-Strike) has required clan members to register on a site prior to playing matches and Final Battleground is no different.

Think about it... if you're sitting in a Match server with a couple of Mercs, you're wasting your own time and resources (like Plinks, Troops etc) and your wasting the time of those players that have agreed to play for you. Basically - you're wasting EVERYONE's time... just so that you can lose your match and the corresponding territory and look like an idiot in front of audience of 3000 or so other clans worldwide.

If you're serious about protecting the credibility, respect and long term interests of your clan, it makes a lot of sense to get ALL of your clan members registered ASAP so you don't end up needlessly forfeiting matches that you might otherwise have won. The process of registering a member takes about 15 seconds in-game (on a server running the FBG Plug-in).

No exceptions: If ALL of your Match members do not complete this VERY SIMPLE PROCESS before playing a match then we WILL award the win to the opposing clan and if you keep doing it we'll have no problem banning your clan entirely.

Revenge in Europe!

 D1gN1tY, 2/25/2010 11:03 PM, 5 replies

Week 8 in the European Battle has been a mix of success and turmoil for many clans. While numerous new Clans have begun their attack on Militia owned real-estate, several of the more established clans managed last week to at last exact their revenge.

In particular ISW strengthened their grip in Ireland, retaking IRL-08 from NR7 after losing it last week.

The strategic commanders and planners at NATO should pay a visit to the headquarters of FSQ, who are progressively taking over Afghanistan. However, FSQ face some interesting resistance from the West. The looming presence of FΏ could become a difficult problem unless they can strike some kind of a deal. Watch this space to see how Afghanistan evolves.

Curiously, the Balkan has been a hotbed for conflict as several rival Serbian clans have been clashing heavily over their native territories. RFB seemed to be the leading clan until this week when they lost their focus and lost 3 territories by forfeit.

Meanwhile, things have been heating up in the United States where territories are getting snapped up fast. The temperature soared in USAFL-01 (Florida) as for the second week in a row, IK troops have had to fight Exalted, who’ve been making a name for themselves as one of the most aggressive and dangerous clans in the Battle. After IK’s win last week, the Portuguese morals were high but after to a hard-fought match, they fell to their aggressors.

Exalted have been one of the clans to watch ever since the Battles started, commanding a mixture of fear and respect, only a few clans seem to have the skills to defeat them. One of those clans is NIF, who have so far beaten Exalted in previous matches.

Match report NIF vs eXalted. 23/Feb/2010

NIF vs eXalted was scheduled for the 23rd of February and for those who didn’t get a chance to watch the match, it was breathtaking. The match was scheduled on NIF's server, the defending map choice was de_dust2.

NiF took the early initiative in the Knife round, swarming the Double doors at Long A and brutally knifing the eXalted members one by one as they tried to get through. NiF won the Teamchoice and picked CT… but what they hadn’t planned for was eXalted's carefully prepared Rushes.

eXalted came out blazing the first five rounds, changing the rush tactics every time they won a round and the NiF squad struggled to adapt to the changes until the 6th round when they struck back hard with a crushing AWP team, picking off members of eXalted at distance, clawing back 3 solid rounds.

Things were looking up for the NiF squad but eXalted rallied using smoke tactics and both sides exchanged blows with the first half ending 10-5 in favour or eXalted.

eXalted would now face the wrath of the NiF terrorist squad (widely regarded as the stronger side of de_dust2) and NiF shredded the eXalted defense for the first 3 rounds. eXalted were starting to struggle with their cashflow, unable to gear themselves well enough to hold off the NiF attacks, everytime eXalted won a round, NiF came right back with a win of their own using superior fainting and smoking tactics. NiF also continued to make use of their AWP skills, repeatedly picking off eXalted in the middle.

It was anyone’s game at this point –eXalted were pounded by NiF over the course of 8 rounds before they finally mustered a solid defense and took the 6 rounds they needed for the win 16-11.

Very intense stuff. We expect this rivalry will continue through into next week.

eXalted would now face Zeal once again in one of the biggest showdowns yet...

Match report Zeal vs eXalted. 24/Feb/2010

High off their victory over NiF and their win last week against powermongers Zeal – the next big match was to be played on the 24th against a Zeal squad on their chosen map of de_dust2.

Tensions were high before the match, and Zeal pulled in their A squad in an effort to exact a bloody revenge. The match itself pulled in 23 spectators on Source TV.

The Knife round would prove to be a difficult start for Zeal, who fought one man down and lost them all to eXalted who didn’t lose a man, bearing an eerie resemblance to the last match these clans had played. The results would be different this time though. eXalted chose the CT side for the first half and Zeal’s fifth man finally showed up. The core 5 man Zeal squad was ready to party.

In a series of precise and deadly pushes, Zealot punched their way through eXalted’s defenses mercilessly, taking the first 8 rounds in succession and leading in kills 40 to 10.

It was only until the 10th round that eXalted were able to resist the Zeal onslaught, with Eviltjuh and Xeps killing anything that moved at Bomb site A to secure their first round of the night.

The score was now 9-1 to Zeal and eXalted would have to keep up the momentum to survive. The next round brought some hope when they picked off two members of Zealot early but they couldn’t stop the push into A. Having secured the area, Zeal wasted no time planting the bomb and the eXalted backup could not get back to them quickly enough. Zeal won the round and went on to secure the first half 14-1, leaving eXalted in a very difficult position for the second half.

eXalted pushed for a joined rush and Zeal responded with a stinging volley of grenades from both sides… the plan had worked and eXalted had secured Bomb Site B. All the stood between them and first round was Repz… eXalted hadn’t realized that he did not rotate back. Repz executed the last two members with two vicious headshots.

eXalted could not afford another round loss or the match would be over and they launched one final, valiant push against Zealot but their efforts ultimately proved futile. Zeal dispatched of the final eXalted player and took the Match win, final result 16-1.

Anyone who wants to watch the full match can get it here.

It's a .dem file as opposed to a youtube video, so if you don't know how to watch (or record) .demo files, you should first check out this useful Youtube video by n00bsalad posted here.

As Week 8 draws nearer to close, we await the events of tomorrow night’s Challenge Period with a great deal of interest. Whilst the top clans pick each other off, new ones are still arriving, so the big question is… which one of these new clans is a sleeping dragon? We’ll soon find out!

FBG still gaining momentum

 D1gN1tY, 2/22/2010 2:36 PM, 2 replies

It’s been an exciting week. The last weekend was one of our busiest ever for new player registrations proving that the Counter-Strike: Source user base remains curiously stronger than ever.

It makes us wonder why so many people are still playing a game that has for the most part been developed so little over the last 5 or 6 years. Then again, this is perhaps not surprising when you look at the countless military-themed FPS games that have been and continue to be released, yet none of them are able to offer a more intense or visceral close-quarters combat experience compared to CS:S. You can throw as many pretty graphics and motion picturesque sound tracks at a game and you can spend a fortune marketing it but if you want to create a sustainable multi-player community that will lost as long this, you have to offer quality game-play.

Over the weekend there were 114 attacks raised against territories in the Battles, of which 54 will be played against other clans over the course of the week. We are of course, delighted to see so many players and clans engaging each other on the Battles in such a short space of time. With new clans joining daily, the strategic Battle maps showing ownership of the world are getting increasingly interesting.

We also received our first press release in PC Zone magazine (in the UK) over the weekend and we were somewhat relieved that they had nothing but positive things to say (thank you guys!). As Final Battleground is a worldwide phenomena, this is only the tip of the iceberg. If anyone knows of a particular gaming review and/ or community website or magazine that they feel we should contact with a Press-Release pack, send me a Private Message and we’ll get in touch with them.

Final Battleground is unique to the extent that it’s a feature rich product as well as a service, but what really makes it interesting is you guys: the users. Very few multi-player games in existence allow the activities and involvement of players and clans to have a greater impact on the environment they play in (particularly in the world of FPS gaming) and we’re proud to be a part of it.

We’ve got more cool developments on the way this week and as always, we’ll keep you posted with our progress.

[eXltd] hold off *Zeal* in major win

 D1gN1tY, 2/19/2010 2:21 PM, 8 replies

Clans [eXltd] and |NiF| pulled off some major wins this week in the European Battle, both claiming victories against the feared giants of FBG: *Zeal*.

*Zeal* had launched a major attack with more than half a million troops against [eXltd] for control of NLD-09 in the Netherlands, resulting in a major face-off between the two juggernauts.

The playing field, [eXltd]'s defending map of choice: de_cpl_strike.

Few gaming experiences can compare to the tension of a major clan match, and this night was no exception. [eXltd] took the momentum early with a vicious kniferound that left only the [eXltd] clan members standing over a pile of *Zeal* bodies...

The first round got underway and *Zeal* (on Terrorists) moved in on Bomb point A but [eXltd] held them off, securing the early cash and building the momentum. *Zeal* would not be deterred, they continued to assault Bomb point A over several rounds but [eXltd]’s defense held.

*Zeal* finally got their first break in round 6, executing a mid-rush with deadly precision. For a couple of rounds, it looks like *Zeal* might have regained their mojo, taking Round 8 with another well fought round in the middle. [eXltd] regrouped quickly though, anticipating the rest of *Zeal*’s assault and claiming the rest of the half 13-2.

Perhaps it was due to the anxiety surrounding their upcoming finals in the KGL later that night, but *Zeal* were clearly feeling a little shaken. However, the tables would now be turned... *Zeal* would now have the stronger side for this map (the Counter-Terrorists) and [eXltd] knew that their greatest challenge still lay ahead as *Zeal* are re-known for their expert defence on CT.

The hammer came down hard... with *Zeal* taking the first three rounds with ease as [eXltd] took a calculated gamble and went ‘eco’ in an effort to save cash. The gamble paid off. [eXltd] launched into Round 4 fully geared and busted the *Zeal* defence open with superior pick and play. *Zeal* didn’t see it coming... [eXltd] struck again, delivering another two devastating attacks and never looked back, taking the win with a final score of 16-5 and retaining NLD-09.

Thanks to raiKen for his excellent Match Report. If you’re interested in viewing some of the action you can catch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-1IVMLd5h0

No doubt, *Zeal* are a powerful team and they were not playing on their home map, they will be hungry for revenge but they will likely choose their moment carefully, particularly after losing FRA-01 in France to |NiF| this week.

Has your clan been involved in a nail-biting, teeth clenching face off over a key territory in the Battles? If so, contact us! All you need to do is send some basic details of what happened during the rounds of each half. Last but not least... please remember to reference the Match ID (the territory and date etc).

The Challenge Period starts tonight and all new clans have arrived looking for a piece of the action. One this is for sure, blood shall be split!

News Update

 D1gN1tY, 2/17/2010 10:30 AM, 2 replies

We’ve had some good feedback on the latest beta version of the Plug-In and we’ll now work towards releasing the latest finished version. The stability of this release will allow us to complete our transition from using the old Stats gathering system (which we required Rcon for) to the new version which has a lot more functionality and far better performance.

Looking ahead, we’ve got some interesting development plans ahead as we look to finally leave the Beta Status and offer a full, commercially live service. (We’ll be releasing more information on this in due course).

In the meantime, we’d like to draw attention to *Zeal* Mart’s highly enjoyable Week 6 to 7 Video which includes some memorable highlights from various matches in the European Battle. Check out the full thread on the forums here.

If anyone else has spectator videos of match highlights then please start posting them! If the number of video submissions pick up we may run a competition (for uber Plinkage...) for the best video footage... so keep them coming.

Newsletter week 8 !!

 Zealous Gamers, 3/1/2010 2:35 PM, 0 replies

Newsletter week 8,

Heading to the end of week 8, we can say it was a week of turmoil. Clans which lost last week in matches got their revenge. ISW strengthen their grip in Ireland and retook IRL-08 from NR7 after they lost it last week.

Further the strategic planners of the NATO, could go for a visit to the headquarters of FSQ and learn how FSQ is slowly taking Afghanistan. But even it seems FSQ is overpowering the country still some small groups of resistance are fighting back in the west. Will they succeed in securing the whole of Afghanistan? Or will FΏ put them back? Stay tuned how the battle for Afghanistan evolves.

In Usafl-01 temperatures where rising. As for the second week in a row IK troops had to fight Exalted. After their sudden win last week, the Portuguese morals where high! But in the end, it was just not enough to come out as winners.

The Balkan is fought over with passion. Week after week clans clash into each other. After weeks clashing REB was coming up as winner. This all till this week, out of nowhere they loosened their focus and lost 3 matches on forfeit? Was this a coincidence? Only

Exalted – enjoyed a good week with 2 wins of 16-0 and being the first to beat NIF in a match on FBG. But there was actually only one match which that did count this week.

Zeal. Send out message!
Loads of friction have been between both clans since last week, when Zeal. faced a painful loss against Exalted. Out of nowhere there was a crowd screaming how much better Exalted is then Zealot. Frowning our eyebrows, we questioned ourselves we did not even play the Zealot team? And so on this week was for Exalted all about showing their ”superiority” on the Battleground whilst Zealot was looking for revenge.

Zeal. vs Xltd
23 people in Source_tv saw how Zealot and Exalted started 4v5 the knife round on De_dust2. Exalted was happy to see that they won the knife round without losing men and choose CT as start side. Mean while the last Zealot member joined up, and Zealots core 5 where ready to party.

From the beginning, Exalted underestimated Zealot. With precise and deadly pushes Zealot broke through Exalteds defenses. After 15 minutes play and a score 8-0 in rounds to Zealot the kills where divided with 40 for zealot and 10 for Exalted.

During the 10th round Exalted managed for the first time during the match a fist. The brothers Eviltjuh and Xeps managed to hold with success bomb side A and giving Exalted their first round bringing the score 9-1. This gave a small impulse to Exalteds play and directly in the next round they brought Zealot down 3v5. However that was not enough to stop off Zealot with a short push they managed to take out the A defenders and planted the bomb. Back-up was too late and so on they given away the advantage they had during that round. With having a comfortable score some of the Zealot lost focus and tried to give the public something to watch, which ended in a few failing knife attempts.

Beginning CT with a score 14-1, it required really strong play from Exalted to bent this to a draw or even a win. With a joined short rush they got naded heavily from 2 sides. Still they managed to break trough to B but not knowing that Repz did not rotate back and with 2 exact headshots he took the two last standing men of Exalted out. Last round was much a like – Exalted not being able to push trough Zealot’s defenses and getting knocked down when they got pushed back and ended their misery.

The end result was a 16-1 win to Zealous-Gaming. The match itself was not spectacular but good team work and deadly pushes destroyed Exalted’s defenses. The last question remains amongst us!?!?!? Will they make a movie about this match?

For the first time the core 5 entered the Battlefield, sending out a clear and strong message. Thanks for the good game guys!

Want to join Zeal? Be free to join us we are looking for members which can spread our name and support our team and provide plinks. The only thing we require is a passion for the game and a good attitude!

The Forgotten Soldiers, 1/9/2010 2:20 AM, 0 replies

Greetings!

Comrades, The battle has finally started, TFS Needs your little Support and effort. I urged every member of TFS to donate their Plinks to the clan in order to support long battles in the field against none friendly clans.

Donating Plinks can be vital to us to capture and secure territories and supply more troops to defend our captured territories from the other clans. your plinks can be big help to resupply our troops and attacked captured enemy territories.

currently TFS has 3 captured territories in the battle field for now they're safe but soon TFS Plinks will soon be run out of supplies.

Our Captured Territories
1. Somewhere in Canada
2. North Green Land
3. South Green Land
TFS used to have 11 territories in total but i had to abandoned the 8 territories as they are not worth capturing and defending.

TFS have made some ally in the battle field a clan called #Exalted and we agreed not to take each others territory in the battle. soon we will have some more allies.

I repeat your plinks can be a big help for our troops in the battlefield. Donating your plinks would be much appreciated. I COYAKS Leader of this clan pledged to spend TFS plinks tactically and cunningly wise.

What is the Final Battleground?

Final Battleground is the world domination themed tournament for Counter-Strike: Source that unites both casual, independent players with organised clans.

Each and every day, as many as 50,000 profiles and 3,000 clans earn achievements and awards, ultimately competing in battles for territorial control of the world.

Clans use an in-game currency known as Plinks to initiate matches (such as 5 vs. 5) against other clans to determine ownership of over 2,800 territories.

In an effort to fund their onslaught, clans must appeal to the individuals earning Plinks on public Counter-Strike: Source servers. The triumph, glory and success of defending and conquering territories is not limited just to those who play the matches - it is shared with hundreds and thousands of players.
