After numerous delays and setbacks, Battle 5 finally came to close last night. It has taken many battles, but NiF seem to have finally perfected a method which saw them not only take home the gold cup for themselves, but left their arch-enemies VIA in the dust. As additional funds poured into NiF coffers (1,100,000 spent on troops just for the last day), NiF went on a major offensive to usurp SF from their comfortable lead. Unfortunately LW were the ones to bear the brunt of NiF's attack, falling from 2nd to 5th place, which is still better than their Mediterranean counterparts iK who after a disastrous battle just managed to make into the top 10.

Dominating the South, DJR came in 2nd place. A smart move as always, DJR pushed north with nothing to worry about from behind. In what looked like a co-ordinated move with NiF, DJR stormed Aero's borders in search of the 49 territories that would push them into 2nd place.

Lpa played an impressive battle, spending a mere 363,000 plinks yet taking home the gold medal. Completing the Pirate's Trail early on in the battle was pivotal to ensuring a steady supply of troops. Coupled with Lpa's carefully management of their forces and you have the most impressive spending/achievement ratio this battle.

Sitting above Lpa on the ladder is the precariously positioned clan known as SF. By virtue of having had a more territories previously during the battle (17 to be specific), they claimed 3rd place. No doubt they will remember their fall from glory in battles to come.

Having put my money on VR earlier in the battle, these guys came under some heavy fire. North America is usually VR's stomping ground but it just was not meant to be! VR still come in a t a respectable 3rd on the global leaderboard, an impressive feat for a clan who is still mastering the finer arts of FBG.

Last but not least, we have the guys at RoF, who spent a mere 55,000 and came 7th without even deploying all their troops. Somebody over there must have a silver tongue.l
